There is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuuge disconnect between the worlds of our parents and our own. If you think about it, your parents had you to themselves for decades, up until you were old enough to start going out and they had to trust their little baby would be okay out there in the “real world”. Then as we aged, they only saw us when we were home (however many hours we actually spent it there). They could only see what they saw, but there is a whole different you that exists when you’re with your friends, your peers, who you are outside/inside. I think that’s what causes so much anger, it’s what triggers the impatience. We take them for granted because we are so focused on our own realities, it’s all about you you you. What you want, what you couldn’t get, what you think you deserve.

When I was younger, I never agreed to my mom’s reasons as to why dating at the age of 12 was too young. I thought I was mature enough. I thought she was just being a controlling mother, of course. Now that I look back at it, even for the couples who are dating in high school, you guys are fucking youuuuuuuung. There is so much left to explore, so much left to learn, the world is full of possibilities and a relationship should have been the last of my concern; as it is now. But hey, you grow and you learn.
